What is Ethan’s Work?
It is a semi-ephemeral sound system. Flexible, configurable, somewhat portable. The centerpiece of the “home rig” is a Metric Halo ULN-8 3D interface. There are additional A/D and D/A converters for extra inputs and outputs, two different Otari MX-5050 Mark III 1/2″ reel to reels (4 track and 8 track), and a small but potent assortment of analog and digital signal processing tools. ATC SCM-12 studio monitors and Audeze LCD-X headphones provide accurate reference.
Additional Metric Halo interfaces are the core of the primary “mobile rig.” Sometimes parts of the “home rig” head out into the field; even the tape machines can travel for the right job. The overall system can easily be scaled to accommodate as many as 32 input channels, and there are plenty of microphones on hand for capturing a wide range of sources.
Recording, mixing; some of it, all of it. Not really mastering though.
Ethan does work at other studios, too.
